On the occasion of World Toilet Day, a special awareness programme was organised at the Smart Toilet constructed by the Sulabh Sanitation Mission Foundation (SSMF), located opposite the Hitavada Office in Ward 16, Laxminagar Zone No. 1, under the Nagpur Municipal Corporation.
The smart toilet complex was specially decorated for the occasion, with vibrant floral decorations and a traditional rangoli at the entrance, creating a welcoming environment while drawing attention to the importance of clean, safe, and accessible public sanitation.
The programme was attended by Mrs. Vasumana Pant, Additional Municipal Commissioner, Nagpur Municipal Corporation, and Mr. Gajendra Mahalle, Chief Sanitation Officer, who inspected the facility and reviewed its modern amenities and services.

The event was also attended by Mr. Hrishikesh Ingle, Zonal Officer, members of the Information, Education and Communication (IEC) Team, and officials from the Sulabh Sanitation Mission Foundation.
During the programme, the IEC team interacted with citizens, creating awareness about the smart toilet’s advanced features, hygiene standards, user-friendly technology, and dedicated facilities for women and senior citizens. Demonstrations on the proper use of the facility were also conducted to encourage greater adoption of hygienic public sanitation practices.
The event concluded with the message, “Clean Toilets, Healthy Cities,” reinforcing the importance of quality sanitation infrastructure and public awareness in building healthier, cleaner, and more inclusive urban communities. The programme also highlighted SSMF’s continued commitment to developing modern sanitation facilities and promoting sustainable sanitation practices across India.
